CB Chad Scott placed on IR
Chad Scott Out for Season Early Injury Strikes Patriots Defense The knee injury sustained in Saturday's practice was indeed a serious injury. CB Chad Scott has officially been placed on the reserve/injured list by the New England Patriots and will miss the entire 2007 season.
The 10-year veteran joined the Patriots in 2005 and has played in 17 regular season games while starting nine. Scott played in 14 regular season games in 2006 while starting nine of the contests. He finished the season with 44 tackles, two interceptions and five passes defensed. In 2005, the former Pittsburgh Steeler managed to only play in three games before being placed on the reserve/injured list on October 12, 2005.
This injury puts the Patriots at a disadvantage in the secondary. Scott was the projected starter opposite third-year Ellis Hobbs if Samuel holds out for the season. Now the competition for that spot will surely heat up and might become the most exciting competition to watch.
