My take on Major League Baseball as we enter the summer, a time when contenders and pretenders are separated.
American League
1. Tigers (37-20): It's hard to argue with a 20-7 road record even if they haven't played the toughest schedule.
2. White Sox (34-22): It's hard to argue with a 20-8 home record.
3. Yankees (34-22): It's hard to argue against a team that knocked the socks off the Red Sox on Monday night.
4. Red Sox (33-22): It's hard to argue against a team that has Curt Schilling.
5. Rangers (30-26): It's easy to argue against them, but they get the edge over the Blue Jays because they have a better road record.
National League
1. Cardinals (35-21): Albert is hurt, are the Cards going to start hurting too?
2. Diamondbacks (34-22): Coming off a big weekend sweep of the Braves, but the big test comes this weekend against the Mets.
3. Reds (33-24): Maybe they weren't an early-season fluke after all.
4. Mets (33-22): Still my pick to win the NL.
5. Dodgers (32-25): Hottest thing in SoCal this side of Jessica Alba.
